REGISTERED PLANTS

Looking after your registered plant equipment.

When the stakes are higher, we’ve got your back.

“Registerable plant" (previously called "classified plant") refers to equipment and assets that must be officially registered with a regulatory authority due to their potential risk or complexity. This includes boilers, pressure vessels, cranes and other high-risk equipment.

At a registered plant, these types of equipment are subject to more stringent inspection and maintenance schedules and must be inspected by certified professionals. That’s where we come in.

At PISA, we understand the critical importance of compliance and safety for high-risk equipment — and the implications of letting inspections lapse. Leveraging cutting-edge technology and best practices, we provide thorough inspections, ensuring your registered equipment complies key standards. This includes Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022 and the Work Health and Safety (General) Regulations 2022, as well as relevant Australian and international standards.

We inspect it all.

During an inspection, we check design and plant registration to ensure compliance. These are the items from Schedule 5 (Schedule 5 Division 2 of the Work Health and Safety Regulations 2022 [Regulations]) that we inspect. If you can't see what you need on this list, get in touch — there's a good chance we're able to inspect it.

  • Pressure equipment
  • Cranes — bridge, gantry, tower, and mobile
  • Personnel hoists & work boxes
  • Vehicle hoists
  • Prefabricated scaffolding & building maintenance units
  • Boom-type elevated work platforms
  • Lifts, escalators, and moving walkways

Do you know the risks of not inspecting?

As a registered plant (formally known as a classified plant), you’re likely operating high-risk equipment that, if failed, could lead to significant safety hazards. When critical inspections are delayed, the potential impacts can be devastating — and extremely costly.

  • Safety hazards

Uninspected registered plant equipment, such as boilers and pressure vessels, can develop leaks, cracks, or other faults that may lead to catastrophic failures. This can cause explosions, fires, or the release of hazardous substances, resulting in serious injuries or fatalities.

  • Operational downtime

Undetected issues can lead to unexpected equipment failure, causing significant operational downtime. This disruption can be costly in terms of lost productivity and emergency repair expenses.

  • Legal & regulatory non-compliance

Registered plant equipment is subject to stringent regulations and safety standards. Failing to conduct regular inspections can lead to non-compliance, resulting in fines, legal action, and potential shutdowns by regulatory authorities.

  • Financial losses

Beyond immediate repair costs, equipment failures can lead to significant financial losses. This might look like operational delays, higher maintenance costs, contract penalties, increased insurance premiums, and potential legal liabilities.

  • Reduced equipment lifespan

Regular inspections help identify and address minor issues early, extending the lifespan of registered plant equipment. Without inspections, equipment may deteriorate more rapidly, leading to premature replacement and increased capital expenditure.

The PISA process.

1.

Book & discuss.

Book your inspection online or give us a call to discuss your assets and needs. This provides us with an in-depth understanding of your inspection requirements, along with any unique concerns or requests.

2.

Onsite inspection.

We’ll arrange a time and date to send a certified Inspector to your site to conduct a visual inspection. Your PISA Inspector will verbally let you know what’s required to keep your registered plant safe and compliant.

3.

Inspection report.

After the inspection, we’ll send you a formal quality checked inspection report. This document outlines the compliance status of your inspected equipment, what actions are required to become compliant, and what you need to do to stay compliant.
